Our Clothing and Textiles laboratory can assess the performance of sleeping bags and fabrics Our Clothing and Textiles laboratory can assess the performance of sleeping bags and fabrics. It consists of a semi-anthropometric thermal manikin, designed primarily to measure reliably the thermal insulation of sleeping bags or other bedding items such as blankets and mattresses. The whole system is operated within a thermal test chamber (+15oC to +25oC, 50 % to 70 % RH).

The design allows the separate measurement of the insulation of under- and over-bedding, as well as the overall insulation of the bedding or sleeping bag. Additionally, it is capable of differentiating between upper-body, central and lower-body regional insulation of non-uniform bedding.
