Our Clothing and Textiles laboratory can assess the performance of sleeping bags and fabrics. It consists of a semi-anthropometric thermal manikin, designed primarily to measure reliably the thermal insulation of sleeping bags or other bedding items such as blankets and mattresses. The whole system is operated within a thermal test chamber (+15oC to +25oC, 50 % to 70 % RH).
The design allows the separate measurement of the insulation of under- and over-bedding, as well as the overall insulation of the bedding or sleeping bag. Additionally, it is capable of differentiating between upper-body, central and lower-body regional insulation of non-uniform bedding.
