The Advanced Sensors Innovation Project

New investment fund available for businesses in the UK.

*
watersplash QinetiQ launched the Advanced Sensors Innovation Project in June 2007, which has helped finance the technical development of advanced sensors, and their integration into company’s technologies.

Up to half a million pounds could be invested in businesses with a view to the commercial exploitation of projects.
*

Sensors play a vital role across a range of industries to detect motion, light, temperature, pressure, flow and a variety of other 'states' – both of which are important to both products and processes such as household smoke detectors to ingredients monitoring in the food processing industry.

QinetiQ will help companies determine whether incorporating or improving sensor technology is appropriate for them, and work with companies to explore the possible solutions for their products and processes. Our aim is to give projects a commercial focus so that technology investment provides a return.

Best foot forward
Salts Healthcare approached the Advanced Sensors Innovation Project, to help identify a solution to an Orthotics problem. Currently, the process for accurately capturing the size and shape of the foot for orthotic support devices is through several fittings. This is a time consuming and costly exercise for both podiatrists and patients.

Through the Advanced Sensors Innovation Project investment, Salts Healthcare are teaming with QinetiQ to solve the problem – developing a ‘one step’ foot measuring system enabling podiatrists to improve service, shoe range, throughput and reduce healthcare costs.
