Life Support Systems Laboratory This facility provides the capability to test life support equipment in relevant environments – wet or dry, hot or cold. Breathing machines simulate the action of the diver and breathing apparatus performance is assessed against relevant standards. All aspects of the operation of the equipment can be investigated and assessed.

Hyperbaric Medicine Unit An RN Type A recompression chamber, with a 8.5 bar depth capability, modified for improved access and seating for 5 patients (or 2 patients lying). QinetiQ maintains a full medical team, headed by an occupational physician with many years hands on experience of treating diving illnesses. We maintain an emergency response team 365 days per year.

Experimental Dive Tank A 3 cubic metre Braithwaite tank, used for a variety of purposes in support of diving under-pinning work. This includes thermal protection studies and acoustic assessment of the functions of diving equipment.
