Technology and the User

*

Achieving compatibility between user and technology.

*

Changes within the working environment are progressively technology driven. It is important not to overlook that most systems will include a human operator in the loop. To realise the full potential of technology, human limitations and needs must be considered at all stages of system design, development and implementation.

Our strength lies in our ability to look at the development of a complete system rather than individual elements. Assessing the contribution people make to system performance, the man-machine interface, the skills and abilities of personnel, human variability, workload and the physical environment.

Our Work Includes:

  • A prototype system which monitors workload and provides support if the operator becomes over burdened
  • Assessing the integration of new equipment into existing platforms for MOD
  • Evaluation of railway signal visibility
