Requirement Development

*
Concept developed for a Generic Lightweight Airportable Platform with demanding packaging constraints QinetiQ has considerable in-depth experience of working closely with customers and industry partners to understand existing capability gaps and future needs. Subsequently, these are translated into requirements documents for use during procurements.

Concept Development

A key element in the evolution of advanced, leading edge vehicle technology is the successful interpretation, practical demonstration and proof of new design concepts. Over time, QinetiQ has undertaken a number of ground breaking concept development programmes for the MOD including:

  • HMD – 6x6 High Mobility Demonstrator
  • ACAVP – Advanced Composite Armoured Vehicle Platform
  • HSC – High Survivability Concept
  • WESTLEY – Offensive Action Vehicle
  • GENLAP – Generic Lightweight Airportable Platform
  • HED – Hybrid Electric Drive Demonstrator

Vehicle Design

*
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of Advanced Composite Armoured Vehicle Platform (ACAVP) aimed at optimising structural strength Using the latest static and dynamic simulation software, our development team can model a variety of vehicle types over differing terrains and over any number of duty cycles. Analysis and interpretation of these results allows us to accurately predict vehicle performance and mobility in the vehicle’s future, or existing, operational environment.
*

Factoring this information into programmes at an early stage can significantly influence vehicle design, durability and reliability – hence improving service life and performance.

*

Vehicle Consultancy
QinetiQ’s specialist vehicle and automotive engineers have a long track record and reputation for the provision of in-depth technical support to MOD and commercial sector vehicle programmes. This support is available throughout the product lifecycle.
