Fuel Cells and Advanced Batteries

We use our expertise in fuel cells and batteries to provide clean, efficient and cost effective power solutions for man-portable and vehicle applications.

How is it environmentally beneficial? Fuel cells and batteries are leading technologies for future electricity production, offering clean and efficient power for applications ranging from man portable electronics to large scale electricity production. Fuel cells are especially relevant in the move towards electric vehicles and distributed domestic power generation.

Integrated fuel cell, battery and super capacitor power solutions are most likely to provide clean power for vehicle applications. As well as developing technology for application in the automotive industry we are also working to replace auxiliary power units within aircraft.

Manportable power solutions will, in the near term, be provided by advanced batteries. We are developing an advanced cathode to provide significant advances in battery technology and small fuel cells for man portable applications.

Specifically we are looking into the effect of environmental pollutants on fuel cell operation and lifetime and are currently developing technology to protect fuel cells from extreme environment conditions to facilitate their transition into the portable power market.
